East Coast Braces for Most Powerful Snow Storm in Decades

The East Coast of the US is bracing for a powerful storm that’s being called a “bomb cyclone,” because its pressure is predicted to fall very fast, causing it to strengthen rapidly.  The storm could rank as the most intense in decades.  “This rapidly intensifying…storm will produce strong, damaging winds – possibly resulting in downed trees, power outages and coastal flooding,” the National Weather Service tweeted on Wednesday.

By Thursday, the storm will resemble a hurricane.  Blizzard warnings have been issued from Virginia up the coast to Maine.  The storm has already dumped six inches of snow on parts of northern Florida.  Tallahassee, FL saw snow for the first time in 28 years.  Philadelphia and New York are expected to see five to eight inches of snow and wind gusts of up to 45 mph.  Boston could see as much as 14 inches of snow Thursday.
