FBI Opens Investigation into Clinton Foundation

The FBI has opened an investigation into the Clinton Foundation focusing on whether any political favors were exchanged for contributions to the Clinton family charitable organization.  Agents from the Little Rock, Arkansas office have taken the lead in the investigation and have interviewed at least one witness in the last month.  Little Rock is where the Foundation was started.

It has been reported that several FBI field offices, including the Little Rock office, had been collecting information on the Clinton Foundation for more than a year.  It has also been reported that there had been pushback to those efforts from the Justice Department.  Several Republican members of Congress have been encouraging Attorney General Jeff Sessions to appoint a special counsel to look into various Clinton Scandals.

A Clinton spokesman called the investigation “disgraceful” and “a sham.”  Jeff Sessions is “doing Trump’s bidding by heeding his calls to meddle with a department that is supposed to function independently,” he said.
