BREAKING: Senate Deal Reached – Government to Reopen

The Senate has reached a deal to end the shutdown and reopen the government.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said Democrats will support a bill to reopen the government and fund it until February 8.  In exchange, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has promised that will put votes on the floor that will address the DACA program, immigration and other key issues Democrats have sought votes on, before February 8.

“We will vote today to reopen the government to continue negotiating a global agreement with the commitment that if an agreement isn’t reached by February 8, the Senate will immediately proceed to consideration of legislation dealing with DACA,” Schumer said. “The process will be neutral and fair to all sides.”

“In a few hours, the government will reopen. We have a lot to do,” Schumer added.
