White House to Reveal Immigration Plan Monday

The White House plans to reveal a framework for an immigration deal on Monday, it was announced today.  “The President wants to lead on this issue and that’s exactly what we’ll do,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said today.

Sanders declined to give any details about what would be included in the framework, but said that the White House wants to see a legislative package that addresses the four provisions that President Trump has previously outlined as necessary to any immigration package that would get his signature.  They are: a solution to the DACA issue, funding for a border wall, an end to family-based chain migration and an end to the visa lottery programs.

“The President’s in a position to lay out a framework. There’s nothing currently on the table that addresses all of the concerns … like this framework does,” Sanders said.  The framework “represents a compromise that members of both parties can support.  We encourage the senate to bring it to the floor,” Sanders added.
