President Trump Claims Polar Ice Caps are at Record Levels

President Trump asserted during an interview with British television that the polar ice caps are at record levels.  Many scientists and environmentalists actually believe the ice caps are melting at an alarming rate.

During an interview with British broadcaster Piers Morgan, the president was asked whether he believes in climate change.  “Do you think it exists?” Morgan asked him.  Trumps replied that climate change is cyclical and added, “The ice caps were going to melt, they were going to be gone by now, but they’re setting records, OK? They’re at a record level.”

NASA found last year, though, that Arctic sea ice had reached a record low and that sea ice around Antarctica hit its lowest extent ever recorded by satellites at the end of summer.  NASA also found that the last four years on Earth have been the four hottest years on record.  The records that they, along with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, use go back to 1880.
