Russia: U.S. is Meddling in Our Election

Blog

Russia is accusing the United States of meddling in its election.  Russia is referring to a Treasury report that contains the names wealthy Russian oligarchs and details their close ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin.  That report is set to be released by the Trump administration.

“We do think that this is a direct and obvious attempt to time some sort of action to coincide with our elections in order to influence them,” said Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for the Russian government.  “We disagree with this, and we are sure this will have no influence.”

Peskov also said that that the list will be analyzed in Moscow to determine the effect it will have on Russian businesses and corporations.  The publication of the report, “will be analyzed in Moscow, so that our interests and the interests of our companies are guaranteed,” Peskov said.

The State Department delivered a list of names for the report in October.  The names could be publicly revealed or kept classified.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is running for a fourth term as that nation’s leader.  Elections are to be held in Russia on March 18.
