The House Intelligence Committee has voted unanimously to send the Democrats’ rebuttal memo to the White House for review today. The committee had a 5 p.m. meeting on Monday in which the vote took place. The president now has five days to approve the release or object to it.
A controversial memo that Republican members of the House Intelligence Committee released last week has consumed Washington and hardened battle lines in both the FBI and Russia investigations.
Democrats composed their own memo because it was necessary, they say, to “set out the relevant facts” and “expose the misleading character of the Republicans’ document.” The president has not yet indicated his preference on the publication of the Democrats’ memo.
