Trump Visits Dayton, El Paso in Wake of Mass Shootings

President Trump visited Dayton, Ohio, this morning, the sight of one of two mass shootings over the weekend that have led to calls for action on gun control. The President is scheduled to fly to, El Paso, Texas, later today.

Trump visited with survivors of the Dayton shooting as well as first responders during his trip. Nine people were killed when a gunman opened fire in a crowded recreational district Saturday night. The suspect was killed by police shortly after opening fire.

The shooter in El Paso was taken into custody after killing 20 individuals in an area Walmart. Two additional victims would later die from wounds suffered during the shooting, bringing the total number of fatalities to 22.

The shooter in El Paso was motivated by white nationalism, according to a manifesto published online shortly before he carried out the attack. It as of yet unclear as to the motivation behind the shooting in Dayton.
