Twitter Censors the President, Again – This Time Over the President Promising Not to Let Anarchists Take Over Washington D.C.

Headlines Politics Technology U.S.

Twitter has once again shown it is not just interested in preventing the spread of “misinformation” but in waging a propaganda war against the President.

President Trump tweeted earlier today that anarchists would not be successful in creating an “autonomous zone” in Washington D.C. as they have in Seattle, WA. Protesters there established the “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone” several weeks ago and the city’s elected officials have only today signaled that they will be moving to dismantle the occupied territory.

The decision comes after shootings on two consecutive nights in the zone left one mad dead.

Rather than let the President’s message simply reach its intended audience and reassure all Americans that someone is working to keep them safe, Twitter chose to label the tweet a violation of “Rules about abusive behavior.” In what Twitter censors apparently want the worldwide public to believe is an act of objectivity and fairness, the warning label goes on to say that despite this violation the company “has determined that it may be in the public’s interest for the Tweet to remain accessible.” In other words, censors at Twitter seriously considered removing the President of the United States’ tweet altogether.

Twitter’s campaign against the Mr. Trump began several weeks ago when the social media platform said Mr. Trump’s promise to keep looters and rioters under control “glorified violence.”

We can all be sure there will be plenty more games to come in the months before the election.
