A woman posted a video on TikTok explaining that friends, who have voted Democrat all their lives, are walking away from Portland and the Democratic Party over their failed response to riots that have plagued the city for two months.
“Our leadership isn’t doing anything about the rioting, the vandalism, they’re not doing anything about it. We all grew up democrat, liberal, all of our lives, and now we’re voting Republican because we’re fed up,” the woman says.
Violence has plagued the city of Portland since the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis on May 25. Rioters have set fire to buildings, police offices and attacked law enforcement officials.
Three federal officers who were protecting the Hatfield Federal Courthouse were attacked by ANTIFA rioters last Friday. The Department of Homeland Security confirmed they were attacked by lasers, and that the officers may have sustained permanent damage to their sight as a result of the attacks.
“When officers responded to put out these fires, glass bottles were thrown and lasers – which can cause permanent blindness – were shined in their eyes,” said Richard Cline, the Federal Protective Service deputy director. “We have three officers who currently have eye injuries and they may not recover sight in those eyes from those laser attacks.”
Support for anarchy instead of for real-life solutions to help citizens of all political persuasions seems to be finally causing voters to reevaluate their political support decisions.
“A friend of mine told me that she really opened her eyes to what’s really happening and that Democrats have never helped us,” the woman goes on to say in the video retweeted by the account StrongWomenLoveTrump (@mcgilh). “They’re all just saying things to get votes and they never come through. So let’s turn the Northwest red,” she adds.
