President Trump said today that Oracle Corp is a “good company” and could take over popular mega-app TikTok’s operations in the United States.
The remarks came after Oracle officially joined the bidding contest for the app’s business in North America, Australia and New Zealand.
Earlier this month, Mr. Trump issued an order mandating the sale of TikTok’s U.S. operations within 90 days.
The administration believes the app’s China-based parent company, ByteDance mines the app for data on U.S. users and then shares it with the Chinese government’s intelligence agencies.
