Google Drops Thousands of Apps from its Marketplace Under Election “Misinformation” Rules

Google announced this week that it has banned thousands of apps from its Play Store under its election “misinformation” rules.

The tech giant wrote that the apps were banned for “engaging in deceptive bebehavior, generating manipulated content without the appropriate transparency measures or promoting demonstrably misleading claims.”

Earlier this week YouTube, which is owned by Google, announced it will ban videos containing information obtained through hacking. It also announced it will ban information meant to meddle with elections or censuses.

YouTube also said it will remove videos that encourage the interfering with voting and other democratic processes.
