In 2017 Actress Blake Lively used her talk at Variety Magazine’s Power of Women event to talk about the Child Rescue Coalition. CRC is a nonprofit organization aids in the defense of children by building technology for law enforcement that is used to arrest and prosecute child predators.

Lively recounted her conversations with a law enforcement officer about the kind of things he and officers like him see on a daily basis while investigating cases of sex abuse against children.

“I asked him how old are the young kids he’s seen and he told me infants. And I have a six-month-old baby, so I said what does that mean?…And he said with the umbilical cord still attached,” Lively said.

She went on to discuss how the danger abusers pose because the average abuser abuses dozens and sometimes hundreds of victims before being caught.

“There was a nurse who was working with children with mental and physical disabilities and when he was caught they asked him how many children he abused. And he looked outside the window at the snow and said ‘how many snowflakes are there outside?'”
