Absentee Ballots Found in a Ditch in Wisconsin

Authorities in Wisconsin are investigating how three trays of mail, which included absentee ballots, ended up in a ditch. The cache was discovered 8am Tuesday morning near a highway and was immediately turned over to the U.S. Postal Service.

“The United States Postal Inspection Service immediately began investigating and we reserve further comment on this matter until that is complete,” said USPS spokesman Bob Sheehan in a statement.

Prior to the Covid19 lockdowns, just 6% of Wisconsin voters cast absentee ballots by mail.

During the state’s primaries in April however, that number jumped to 60%. During the August party primaries the number rose to 82% of all ballots cast.

The news comes after it was revealed that that FBI is investigating several mail-in ballots that were discarded in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. According to authorities, most of the ballots were for Trump and they appeared to have been opened before being discarded.
