Headlines Politics U.S.

White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany has tested for positive for Covid19. McEnany made the announcement moments ago on Twitter.

“After testing negative consistently, including every day since Thursday, I tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday morning while experiencing no symptoms. No reporters, producers or members of the press are listed as close contacts by the White House Medical Unit,” she wrote.

“As an essential worker, I have worked diligently to provide needed information to the American people at this time. With my recent positive test, I will begin the quarantine process and will continue working on behalf of the American people remotely.”

Nearly a dozen officials who were prominently featured in the White House Rose Garden ceremony announcing the nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court on Sept. 25 have tested positive for Covid19. None of the officials have been Democrats.

Democrats in Congress are now pushing for a delay in the confirmation process of Barrett because of the diagnoses.
