Connecticut City Council Renames Sewage Plant After HBO’s John Oliver

Headlines Politics U.S.

The city of Danbury, CT, voted to name its sewage plant after the host of HBO’s “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” on Thursday.

The plant will officially be renamed “The John Oliver Memorial Sewage Plant.”

The name change comes after Oliver repeatedly criticized the city on his show over the summer.

Mayor Boughton replied with his own video, threatening to name the city’s sewage plant after the talk show host. Oliver responded, promising to donate $55,000 to local charities if the city followed through on the renaming.
