Smartmatic Director Announced Venezuelan Election Results in 2017 Were “Manipulated” – People Must “Audit and Watch for Evidence of Manipulation” When Using Our Systems

Headlines Politics U.S.

In August 2017 Smartmatic Director Antonio Mugica revealed the results of the elections in Venezuela that year – in which Smartmatic voting software was widely used – were successfully manipulated.

It was revealed at the time that 1 million votes were erroneously included in the final vote tallies.

“Our ultimate election system is designed to make it evident when results are manipulated. However, there must be people auditing the system and watching for that evidence,” Mugica said at the time.

The Trump campaign has been pushing for a full audit of vote-counts taken from battleground states in the Nov. 3 election. Smartmatic voting software was used in many of the jurisdictions in those states.
