After Hours of Harassment, Threats and Doxing, Michigan Republicans Vote to Certify Questionable Election Results

Headlines Politics U.S.

Republicans on the Wayne County, Michigan, Board of Canvassers reversed course late Tuesday night, voting to certify the county’s election results after initially refusing to do so earlier in the day.

The two Republicans on the two-Republican, two-Democrat board initially refused to vote to certify the results because of irregularities in the polling books, primarily in the city of Detroit.

The two subsequently received threats online, were harangued by other board members, accused of acting with racist intentions and then “doxed” (their identities posted online in the hopes of intimidating them into changing their decision).

The pair ultimately voted to certify the results on the demand that the Secretary of State conduct a “comprehensive audit” of “unexplained precincts.”
