President Trump met with Republican leaders of Congress as well as several Cabinet officials today at Camp David to set the Republican Agenda for 2018. In comments to the press, the president said, “it will be tough to beat the year we just left” in terms of legislative accomplishments, but the president believed that 2018 could be a very productive year as well as far as pushing forth the Republican agenda.

The president said that national security, infrastructure and funding for the military was discussed in meetings throughout both yesterday and this morning. He expressed hope that a permanent solution for DACA will be worked out in a bipartisan basis with Democrats. And also on a bipartisan basis, the president said that welfare reform is something Congress may be able to get done this year.
Among the attendees at the strategy meetings are Secretaries of State and Defense, Tillerson and Mattis, as well as by Senate Leader McConnell and House Speaker Ryan. Senator McConnell, in comments to the press expressed excitement about the year ahead and also touted last year’s legislative accomplishments. “If you are like those of us here at the podium, you would like to see America be a right of center country. From a right of center point of view, 2017 was the most consequential year in as many years as I have been here in congress,” he said.
