Conservative House Member Paul Gosar (R-AZ) is calling on Capitol Hill police and the Justice Department to arrest any undocumented immigrants that attend President Trump’s State of the Union address tonight. Gosar called on authorities to check identification all of the address’ attendees in a message written on Twitter.
“Of all the places where the Rule of Law needs to be enforced, it should be in the hallowed halls of Congress. Any illegal aliens attempting to go through security, under any pretext of invitation or otherwise, should be arrested and deported,” the congressman wrote in a subsequent message.
Today, Congressman Paul Gosar contacted the U.S. Capitol Police, as well as Attorney General Jeff Sessions, asking they consider checking identification of all attending the State of the Union address and arresting any illegal aliens in attendance.

Dozens of Democratic members of Congress as well as one centrist Republican, have invited DREAMers, undocumented immigrants who were brought to this country at a young age, to be their guests at tonight’s address. The invitations are meant to be political statements of support for a subset of the illegal immigrant population whose protections were cancelled when the president rescinded the DACA protection program last year.
Many in Washington have expressed a desire to codify a permanent solution to the program into law. The deadline is March 5, when the program officially expires.
The president’s invited guests include parents of children killed by members of the gang MS-13, as well as an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent who heads the initiative into apprehending and deporting MS-13 gang members.
