The FBI Agents Association issued a statement of support for FBI Director Christopher Wray today.
“The FBI Agents Association appreciates FBI Director Chris Wray standing shoulder to shoulder with the men and women of the FBI as we work together to protect our country from criminal and national security threats,” the statement read.
It comes amid reports of the imminent release of a memo written by House Republicans outlining alleged abuses by the bureau in obtaining FISA warrants to spy on the Trump campaign.
Former FBI Director James Comey also released a pointed statement today. Comey wrote on Twitter that the FBI should be commended for voicing their opposition to the memo and compared the present climate to that of the McCarthy era of the 1950s.
All should appreciate the FBI speaking up. I wish more of our leaders would. But take heart: American history shows that, in the long run, weasels and liars never hold the field, so long as good people stand up. Not a lot of schools or streets named for Joe McCarthy.

The FBI wrote this week that they have “grave concerns” about the memo’s accuracy.
The House Intelligence Committee voted Monday to make the memo public, sending it to the president for final review. Release of the memo by the White House could come as early as tonight.
