A Judge in Richmond, VA, has issued an injunction preventing the removal of a statue of Robert E. Lee for 10 days. The injection order cites the state being party to a deed that dates back to 1890 where it accepted the statue and the ground it sits on and agreed to “faithfully guard” and “affectionately protect” them.
Democratic Governor Ralph Northam ordered the removal of the statue last week in the wake of the killing of Minneapolis man George Floyd by police officers.
