The 6-block area in Seattle known as the Capitol Hill Occupied Protest (formerly known as the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone, or CHAZ) saw its first acts of serious violence yesterday morning when one man was killed and another was critically injured. Both were victims of gunfire.
Seattle PD called the incidents related, but a resident of CHOP says the incidents are separate and that there were two separate shooting incidents.
#CHAZ / #CHOP Two people shot in the zone tonight. Two separate shootings one block apart and moments apart.

Police attempted to respond to calls of gunfire at about 2:30am when they say they were met with a violent crowd who prevented officers from reaching the victim. Officers were later informed that both men were transported to nearby Harborview Hospital.
After responding to Harborview, officers were informed a 19-year-old man had died from his injuries while another man, age unknown, remains in critical condition.
Witnesses say the victim who was deceased had been transported before the arrival of police.
