President Trump announced today that he will be sending federal troops to additional American cities to quell the civil unrest that has been raging in the country for nearly two months.
The President’s “Operation Legend,” unveiled today, will assist local law enforcement in cities such as Chicago and Kansas City.
“This bloodshed must end. This bloodshed will end,” Trump said in announcing the plans. The federal government has “no choice but to get involved” he said, amid the ongoing violence in cities.
The operation, named after LeGend Taliferro, a 4-year-old boy who was shot and killed while sleeping in Kansas City, MO, last month, will involve federal agents from the FBI and U.S. Marshals Service among other agencies. The agencies will also partner with local agencies.
Federal agents have been deployed to Portland amid ongoing violence and destruction. Anarchists there have attacked federal buildings and set fire to police offices. Local officials have, for the most part, allowed the violence to continue unopposed.
