In recent days, the People’s Liberation Army has reiterated its warnings to the Chinese people preparations for war with the U.S. are underway. This according to The South China Morning Post.
Since April, drills aimed at defending against chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear attacks – known as anti-CBRN warfare – has become a focus of the PLA.
Those drills were followed closely by an announcement of a massive navy exercise in the various seas surrounding mainland China. Those were meant to simulate a multiple-front battle with Taiwan and the U.S.
Last month, Taiwan’s foreign minister, Joseph Wuh, warned that China’s increased activity in the area betrays plans for an invasion of the island.
The U.S. already has the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan in the area, where it is carrying out air operations with support from its carrier strike group which includes the guided missile cruiser USS Antietam and the guided missile destroyers USS Mustin and USS Rafael Peralta.
