The Texas Department of Public Safety has embarked on a highly-publicized campaign to bring alleged looters and rioters to justice months after their crimes were committed.
So far, Texas officers have tracked down and arrested more than a dozen individuals.
Agents have spent hundreds of hours reviewing social media posts and surveillance footage, as well as YouTube videos, to identify protesters. Authorities are also offering up to $1,000 in cash for help in identifying suspects.
Some protesters report being arrested multiple times for actions during the same protest almost three months ago.
Lt. Governor Dan Patrick has praised the program however, saying if it weren’t for Texas DPS, Austin could have turned into a potential Seattle or Portland, which have seen sustained violence and unrest for months.
