New video analysis that has emerged of the incident in which Kyle Rittenhouse, a 17-year-old, shot 3 protesters in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Wednesday, killing 2 of them, show that Rittenhouse did not fire first and may have been acting in self-defense.
Video footage shows Rittenhouse was being chased and physically attacked before firing any shots.

New analysis of additional footage, conducted by New York Times Visual Investigations journalist Christiaan Triebert show Rittenhouse did not shoot first.
“At 23:19, Rittenhouse is seen in this YouTube livestream. He’s being chased into a parking lot. While he is being pursued, an unknown gunman fires the first shot into the air,” Triebert tweeted.

Rittenhouse has been charged with 1st degree murder in the incident and is awaiting extradition to Wisconsin from his native Illinois.
