Discover Financial Services is blocking customers from making donations to a Christian crowdfunding site raising money for Kyle Rittenhouse. Rittenhouse shot three individuals last month, killing two, amid violent protests in Kenosha, WI. The unrest erupted after the police shooting of an African-American man, Jacob Blake.
Video that has emerged since seems to show Rittenhouse being fired upon by another assailant first and that he may have been acting in self-defense.
After GoFundMe banned a fundraising campaign for Kyle’s defense, Christian crowdfunding site GiveSendGo started a campaign on its site and has raised more than $380,000 for the 17-year-old so far.
Discover says it is now blocking customers from making payments to that campaign because of “operating regulations violations.” The company did not specify what those violations were.
GiveSendGo.com has received more than 9,000 donations for Rittenhouse’s defense and an employee said the Rittenhouse campaign is the largest and fastest-growing campaign in the history of the site.
