The World Bank’s Covid19 Strategic Preparedness and Response Program documents, which are marked “For Official Use Only,” list the international organization’s Covid-aid program’s end date to be March 2025. The program’s start date was April 2020.
The listed objective of the program is to “prevent, detect and respond to the threat posed by COVID-19 and strengthen national systems for public health preparedness.”
The report states that the body’s Board of Executive Directors endorsed the World Bank Group (WBG) to establish a $12 billion Fast Track Covid19 fund. Of that amount, $6 billion will come from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development or IBRD.
The fund would provide loans and other aid to 25, mostly third world, countries.
