Olivia Winslow and Camryn Amy were arrested last month after snatching a 7-year-old boy’s MAGA hat and grabbing and tearing a pro-President Trump sign out of the boy’s mother’s hands, as the boy and his mom were standing outside the virtual Democratic National Convention in Delaware.
In video of the incident that quickly went viral, the boy attempts to recover his hat, telling one of the women “That’s somebody else’s hat!” But the women grab it back. As Riley begins to cry and plead with the women, one of them responds, “We don’t give a [expletive], your mom likes Trump.”
One of the women also assaulted a man who attempted to intervene on the behalf of the boy and his mother.
In addition to a bevy of robbery and assault charges, the women have no been charged with federal hate-crime charges.
Three of the seven charges the women face are felonies, punishable by up to 15 years in prison. Hate-crime charges could lead to a doubling of any charge the two are convicted of.
