Some White colonizers “adopted” Black children. They “civilized” these “savage” children in the “superior” ways of White people, while using them as props in their lifelong pictures of denial, while cutting the biological parents of these children out of the picture of humanity. https://t.co/XBE9rRnoqq

Judge Amy Coney Barrett was called a “White colonizer” this weekend, apaprently because she and her husband chose to adopt two Black children from Haiti.
“Some White colonizers ‘adopted’ Black children,” tweeted Ibram X. Kendi, author and director of the Center for Antiracist Research at Boston University. “They ‘civilized’ these ‘savage’ children in the ‘superior’ ways of White people, while using them as props in their lifelong pictures of denial, while cutting the biological parents of these children out of the picture of humanity.”
Kendi then attempted to walk-back his comments. “And whether this is Barrett or not is not the point. It is a belief too many White people have: if they have or adopt a child of color, then they can’t be racist,” he wrote.
Users on social media however, urged Kendi to desist from his line of argument.
Both factually and morally wrong in one tweet. Impressive!

I love your book/work, and doubt I’d ever support Trump’s nominee though you are making a ton of assumptions about her and her entire family situation.
Maybe it’s a family helping kids?
As an academician, I would expect you to avoid The Ladder of Inference.

Pray for Amy Coney Barrett’s family. There are some sick people like this guy who will stop at nothing to destroy them.

Most White folks don’t spend all their time dwelling on racism the way you seem to.
So if a White person adopts a non-White child you can be pretty darn certain it’s a). out of the goodness of their heart, and b). a sure sign that they aren’t racist.

Barrett, 48, is a devout Catholic. She currently serves on the 7th Circuit US Court of Appeals. She and her husband have 7 children, including two adopted children from Haiti. She was nominated by President Trump for the U.S. Supreme Court on Saturday.
