Supporters of President Trump’s are furious with Fox News anchor Chris Wallace for his “embarrassing” debate-moderating performance last week.
Specifically, they took issue with Wallace not asking Joe Biden whether he will denounce or disavow the anarchist group ANTIFA the same way he asked President Trump to disavow White supremacist groups. (Especially bewildering is Wallace’s failure to follow up with on Biden’s belief that ANTIFA is just an “idea.”)
What is the sure to anger President Trump’s supporters even more is that the badgering of President Trump echoed a nearly identical line of questioning between Wallace and then-candidate Donald Trump 4 years ago.
“I totally disavow the Ku Klux Klan,” Mr. Trump told Wallace during a Republican primary debate in 2016. “I totally disavow David Duke. I’ve been doing it now for two weeks…you’re probably about the 18th person that’s asked me the question.”
Quite unlikely that Wallace forgot that exchange between he and Mr. Trump from four years ago. Much more likely is that this year’s performance was a deliberate hit job by Wallace.
Anger at the host is running so high that a petition has begun to boycott Wallace and his Sunday morning talk show Fox News Sunday because of his debate performance.
