Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) was caught on a hot mic disparaging Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s position on abortion. Barrett is staunchly pro-life.
Feinstein attributed that stance, demeaningly, to Barrett’s religion. Barrett is a devout Catholic.
“She’s been pro-life for a long time. So I suspect with her, it is deeply personal and comes with her religion,” Feinstein said, lamenting Barrett’s anti-abortion position.
This is not the first time Feinstein has attacked Barrett for her religion.
In September 2017, Feinstein chastised Barrett for her religion during her confirmation hearings for a seat on the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals.
“I think whatever a religion is, it has its own dogma. The law is totally different, and when you read your speeches, the conclusion one draws is that the dogma lives loudly within you,” Feinstein reprimanded Barrett by saying.
