President Trump vowed to revive American manufacturing in a second term should he win reelection – with an eye on ending Chinese dominance in the manufacturing space.
“We will make America into the manufacturing superpower of the world, ending reliance on China once and for all,” Trump said Wednesday during virtual remarks delivered to the Economic Club of New York.
The President also promised to be even more aggressive in the use of tariffs and trade deals – an effort to level the playing field with China – than he has been in his first.
Manufacturing in the U.S. has seen a renaissance during the Trump administration. Nearly 450,000 sector jobs had been added in the near 4 years of Mr. Trump’s time in office, before the Covid pandemic caused the loss of 700,000 jobs this year.
