Arizona State Senator-Elect Kelly Townsend writes there are over 36,000 individuals who are registered to vote in Arizona who are unable to provide proof of citizenship.
Townsend made the revelation via tweet this week.
It is unclear if or how many of those individuals attempted to vote in the Nov. 3 elections, or if any were successful.
Close to 23,000 of those individuals are registered in Maricopa County; the largest in the state and one of the most hotly-contested counties in the nation.
