New lawsuits allege Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, through charitable giving, has indirectly funded illegal election fraud efforts in multiple states. Zuckerberg, through the Center for Tech and Civic Life, financed various activities that run contradictory to state laws, the lawsuits claim.
A lawsuit in Georgia alleges funds were used to pay “ballot harvesters,” deputize and pay political activists to manage ballots, and consolidate counting centers in urban centers “to facilitate the movement of hundreds of thousands of questionable ballots in secrecy without legally required bi-partisan observation.”
More than $6 million was given to officials in Fulton County, Georgia, and to five cities in Wisconsin.
“There is nothing in Wisconsin state law that allows cities and counties to take in millions of dollars sourced to an incredibly wealthy, interested, and partisan actor (i.e., Zuckerberg) in order to ‘assist’ those cities and counties in administering the vote,” according to the Wisconsin court filing.
The CTCL is a non-profit that purports to use tech to help elected officials communicate their messages to constituents more efficiently and help Americans remain civically engaged.
According to Amistad, which is a project of the Thomas More Society and is responsible for the suits, of “the 17 cities and counties that have received the largest ‘grants’ from CTCL, totaling more than $51,000,000 combined, just under $300,000 was given” to Republican-leaning counties.
It’s now estimated that Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, have committed $400 million to the efforts.
