Jessy Jacob, who is an employee of the city of Detroit for nearly 35 years, testified that she was instructed to back date absentee ballot applications for several weeks prior to the Nov. 3 election.
When it came time for Michigan state legislator C.A. Johnson to ask Mrs. Jacob a question, Johnson only asked if “Jacob” was the witness’ birth name. When Jacob, who was born in India, replied that it wasn’t, Johnson asked her to spell her birth name.
After confirming that Jessy was in fact the witness’ first name given at birth, Johnson yielded the floor without asking any additional questions, prompting the committee chair to warn against any attempts to “intimidate” witnesses.
