A new “autonomous zone” is currently being set up on the streets of Portland, Oregon, mirroring a similar zone set up in Seattle, Washington, this spring for weeks.
Portland’s mayor, Ted Wheeler (R), has authorized the use of force to dismantle the bourgeoning zone.
“I am authorizing the Portland Police to use all lawful means to end the illegal occupation on North Mississippi Avenue and to hold those violating our community’s laws accountable. There will be no autonomous zone in Portland,” Wheeler wrote on Twitter last night.

Occupiers show no signs of evacuating the encampment, despite Wheeler’s order. Yesterday a group of protesters could be seen chasing authorities, demanding they stay away from the site.
