An election worker explains the discovery of “pristine” ballots to the Georgia State Legislature after Election Day.
Firms conducting the audit of November 3 ballots in Arizona have released their privacy policies detailing the regulations used to govern the process. The three documents cover procedures for conducting forensic audits of the ballots and voting machines, as well as securing the election materials at the state fairgrounds where the audit will take place.
A review of the policies shows this may be the most comprehensive review of ballots used in the November 3 presidential election performed in the country so far.
Ballots will be checked for weight and thickness to ensure they are valid. Additionally they will be run under special ultraviolet lights to detect creases. The check for creases is a bid to confirm ballots alleged to have been mailed were actually folded and mailed in. Reports of “pristine” ballots have been rampant in several states since the election.
Democrats in Maricopa County had sued for the documents to be made public. A judge found for them yesterday and gave the companies, headed by cybersecurity firm CyberNinjas a day to file an appeal. CyberNinjas chose to make the documents public instead.
Republican lawmakers in Arizona have been trying to get an audit conducted of 2.1 million ballots in Maricopa County, the state’s largest, since December. Members of both parties collaborated to thwart those efforts for months.
Last week a judge ruled the audit can go forward and it began in earnest last Friday.
Late today it was revealed that the Department of Justice has been asked by voting rights groups to send federal monitors to Arizona to oversee the audit. The monitors come from groups that are “major backroom players in Washington [D.C.] who work hand in hand with Democrats at every level,” said Dr. Kelli Ward, Chairwoman of the Arizona Republican Party, in a message posted on Twitter tonight.
