The Joe Biden Justice Department is set to “get involved” in the ballot audit taking place in Maricopa County, Arizona. The Justice Department has sent a letter to Arizona Senate President Karen Fann (R) raising concerns about the ballot review.
“The Department has reviewed available information, including news reports and complaints regarding the procedures being used for this audit,” the letter from Pamela Karlan, the principal deputy assistant attorney general of the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division, reads. “The information of which we are aware raises concerns regarding at least two issues of potential non-compliance with federal laws enforced by the Department.”
“The first issue relates to a number of reports suggesting that the ballots, elections systems, and election materials that are the subject of the Maricopa County audit are no longer under the ultimate control of state and local elections officials, are not being adequately safeguarded by contractors at an insecure facility, and are at risk of being lost, stolen, altered, compromised or destroyed,” it adds.
“The second issue relates to the Cyber Ninjas’ statement of work for this audit. Among other things, the statement of work indicates that the contractor has been working ‘with a number of individuals’ to ‘identify voter registrations that did not make sense, and then knock on doors to confirm if valid voters actually lived at the stated address.”
Critics of the audit have long claimed it potentially compromises the anonymity of Arizonans’ votes. Proponents say the claim is false, however. They point out the ballots being audited have long been separated from their mailing envelopes which include all identifiable voter information.
They go on to point to the constant resistance to a thorough ballot audit as proof fraud exists that critics are trying to keep hidden.
“What Democrats couldn’t get in Arizona courts they’re now attempting to get from Biden’s politicized Justice Department,” said the head of the Arizona GOP Dr. Kelli Ward said yesterday. “Their pitch? Lack of security.”
“It all begs the question we’ve been asking from the very first days following last November’s election: what are the Democrats afraid of and what are they hiding? Why can’t the American people take a look at an election?” she added.
