Texas Congressman Lance Gooden (R) announced today that he plans to object to Electoral College votes on Jan. 6.
Gooden made the announcement in a letter which he posted on Twitter.
“I intend to object to the certification of the Electoral College vote submissions on January 6th, 2021, and I respectfully ask you to stand with me.”
Gooden addressed the letter to fellow members of Texas’ Congressional Delegation, Senators John Cornyn (R) and Ted Cruz (R). Under congressional rules objection to Electoral College votes must be made by at least one member of each chamber.
Gooden joins a growing list of lawmakers who have declared their opposition to Electoral College votes.
