President Trump has authorized the use of classified information in connection with the probe into investigations surrounding his 2016 campaign.
“The Attorney General is authorized to use classified information as he deems necessary in connection with his review, including in a grand jury or other proceeding,” the directive reads.
The Department of Justice has been investigating improprieties in the launch of the investigation into the then-Trump campaign which would later serve as the basis for the Russia investigation.
Former Attorney General Bill Barr declined to have that investigation completed prior to the Nov. 3 election.
