Apple has announced a new service program for MacBook and MacBook Pro users whose keyboards have been malfunctioning. The program will allow qualifying customers to get affected devices serviced and repaired for free.
The program covers keyboards where letters or characters repeat unexpectedly, letters or characters do not appear and keyboard key(s) that feel “sticky” or do not respond in a consistent manner.
Eligible machines include MacBook manufactured between 2015 and 2017 and MacBook Pros manufactured between 2016 and 2017.
Owners have three options for service which include finding an Apply authorized service provider, bringing the device to an Apple Retail Store or mailing it in. Service may involve the replacement of the entire keyboard or one or more individual keys.
Customers who have already paid to have this issue repaired can contact Apple about a refund, the company says.
Individuals are asked to consult the company’s service program page for further details.
