The Supreme Court agreed on Friday to hear a case involving President Trump’s latest version of the travel ban. The Court plans to hear oral arguments in April and should issue a final decision in June.
The Trump administration instituted a travel ban from six majority-Muslim countries shortly after taking office last year. Lawsuits were immediately filed by valid visa-holders from those countries, as well as states and other institutions, against the directive. The ban has been struck down by federal courts.
But last month, the Supreme Court ruled that the ban could be instituted while those lawsuits worked their way through the courts. The ban bars immigrants from Chad, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria and Yemen from coming to the U.S. The latest version also includes two non-Muslim countries: North Korea and Venezuela.
