Anarchists have created a 6-block autonomous zone in downtown Seattle dubbed “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone” or CHAZ. Soon after declaring their break-away “nation” however, the difficult part of governing became clear.
After spending most of the first 1-2 days dancing, boozing and partying, it dawned on CHAZ-ians that running a country is not as easy as it appears to be.
One of the activists who helped create CHAZ took to Twitter to plead with the public to bring them food. Apparently the leaders of CHAZ invited homeless people in the area to eat with them and quickly learned the perils of socialism/communism. The activist took to Twitter and asked for “vegan meat substitutes, fruits, oats, soy products, etc – anything to help us eat.”
The group took over the area this week and forced an entire police precinct to retreat.
“You should know, leaving the precinct was not my decision,” Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best said in a video she sent to members of the Seattle Police Department. She also said the protesters could not remain camped behind barricades in the city’s Capitol Hill neighborhood, although it is unclear what, if anything, is being done to clear the area of the protesters.
