Google parent company, Alphabet Inc., is planning to enter the food delivery business. The scoop is being reported by The Economic Times, India’s largest English-language newspaper.
The news was first revealed on the Times’ twitter account.

The orders will be taken through a virtual platform where users can place their orders with their google accounts. Deliveries will apparently be fulfilled by the restaurants.
Food delivery has bourgeoned into a billion dollar business as restrictions of movement due to, as well as fears of, Covid19 have swept across the country. The growth has attracted big-name players to the space.
The ride-hailing company Uber, for example, just announced plans to buy Postmates, in a bid to develop its “Uber Eats” business.
