Elizabeth Linscott and her husband Isaisah were placed under house arrest after refusing to sign a quarantine pledge. Linscott had recently tested positive for Covid19.
Linscott says she got tested because she was planning to go visit her parents.
“My grandparents wanted to see me, too, so, just to make sure that, you know, if I tested negative, that they would be okay, everything would be fine,” she said.
Linscott tested positive despite not showing symptoms. She says the health department contacted her soon thereafter, requesting she sign documents.
“I agreed to comply to call the Health Department if I was to go. I was to call the Health Department if I was to leave my house for any reason,” she said.
She chose not to sign the documents. That’s when she was told that the police were going to have to be involved.
“I had gotten a message from them, a text message that stated, because of your refusal to sign, this is going to be escalated, and law enforcement will be involved,” she said.
Later that week the county sheriff came to Linscott’s home and both Linscott and her husband Isaiah, were outfitted with ankle monitors. The couple is now barred from traveling more than 200 feet away from their home.
Despite authorities’ claims to the contrary, Linscott maintains she is willing to self-quarantine. She is just refusing to sign the documents because she does not agree with their wording.
