The NBA, despite all of its virtue-signaling, or perhaps because of it, is seeing the lowest ratings it’s seen in 5 years.
Viewership on ABC is down 23%, and overall numbers are down 20% compared to 2019’s playoffs.
As Sports Illustrated notes, the NBA’s TV contracts expire in 2025. If ratings continue to drag, that could have a major effect on the revenue the league commands and, by extension, the size of the contracts the players get.
