Republican Congressman Peter King of New York defended changes made to the controversial Nunes Memo saying they “in no way” affect the substance of the memo. “My understanding is this was agreed on beforehand among Republicans. There’s one small part in the memo which in no way affects the substance in the memo,” King said.
The congressman also said the changes entailed the omission of a few words and that the change was made at the behest of the FBI. “[The change] …involves a fact which has been publicly acknowledged by everyone, but for protocol reasons the FBI asked that that be taken out. I think it’s three or four words – they’re out. In no way does it affect the substance of the memo or anything at all,” King said.

Ranking member on the House Intelligence Committee, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) publicized the change in a tweet last night and in a letter to the committee’s chairman, Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA), the memo’s author. He asked that the letter, which has been sent to the White House for review, be withdrawn, and that the committee take another vote on whether to release the revised memo.
Rep. Nunes has yet to comment on Rep. Schiff’s requests.
