Dr. Anthony Fauci, a leader of the country’s Covid19 task force, finds it “disturbing” that so many Americans have become distrustful of the forthcoming Covid19 vaccine.
Fauci was referring to findings of a recent Pew Research Center poll in which only 21% of American adults said they definitely plan to get the Covid vaccine when one becomes available. That is a considerable drop from the 42% of American adults who said they would definitely get the vaccine back in May.
Fauci blames “mixed messages that have come out of Washington” for Americans’ recent loss of faith in the vaccine.
He also tries to assuage the public’s fears about a hidden agenda [emphasis added].
“The FDA has pledged publicly multiple times that they will not approve a vaccine unless they’ve established that nonpolitical scientists agree that it’s safe and effective,” he said.
Fauci has vowed that a Covid19 vaccine would be available by the end of the year.
